Firstly, the filling. Turkey breast and ham is fairly standard fayre for sandwiches, there will be no prizes for originality here. The meats themselves were tasty enough, and any potential dryness was well countered by the salad and sauce.
Moving on to the salad itself, whilst the moisture was very welcome, I felt that the flavour of the meat was overcome by the raw onion and Jalapenos. As much as I love both those toppings, I may omit them from future Subway review subs in order to fully appreciate each filling.
The bread was interesting. I'd never had this bread before, and to be honest I was disappointed by the first 80% of it - it was just brown. However, at one end there was a cluster of seeds on top of the bread (see picture), and this made the last two or three bites of this sub a joy, releasing a smoky, roasted sweetness onto my tongue. I'm intrigued to try this bread again, and hope I am given a less polar piece next time.
All in all, a steady sandwich with which (hehe, say that last bit out loud) to kick off BMS, but nothing out of the ordinary (apart from the bread, which has garnered itself a second tasting later on).
5/10
